2018 TOYOTA SUPRA – CONFIRMED, BASED ON FT-1
2018 Toyota Supra is the upcoming edition to join Toyota’s lineup. The Supra is one of the best known sports cars in the World but Toyota did not make another for more than 10 years now. They did release a concept car with the FT-1 which was supposed to be the next generation Supra but here we are, more than three years since that car was launched and there is no Supra on the market.
We did not lost our hope though because one of their officials said that a 2018 Toyota Supra is in the works and even though it will not be the car everyone was rumoring it to be, it will certainly be something special.
Just like with the FT-1, the upcoming Supra is going to use a platform sourced by BMW which will also underpin the next generation Z4. This new platform will be made mostly out of aluminum with some suspension parts being made out of carbon fiber in order to keep the weight as low as possible.
ALL-NEW DESIGN – INSIDE AND OUTSIDE LOOK
The design of the 2018 Toyota Supra will very likely be based on that of the FT-1, but it will also get its own unique touches. The front end will likely get rid of that F-1 inspired grille for something a bit more usable on a daily basis while at the back it could get a side-mounted exhaust, just like the last model of the car. However, the rather low and wide stance will be kept and so it will be the long hood and short back which are already trademarks of a true classic sports car.
